Ethiopia, Spring 2009
Photography: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Medical Outreach April 2009
Description
My first ever trip to Ethiopia… God’s gift to me… I snapped thousands of pictures to capture it. These are but a small sample of all the gifts captured in pixels. Life is so different there. Simple, yet hard and complicated because of the great need, but lovely because of the openness they have, the pride they exhibit to be Ethiopian, descendants possibly of the great King Solomon himself… a people never conquered by any Europeans, unlike their other African counterparts, just occupied by Italians for a brief time. Proud of their heritage and culture, but with a disconnect due to the extreme poverty… but hopeful and expectant of good things to come… and our nonprofit organization was part of that “good” thing because we were able to treat many thousands of people in a 5-day medical campaign in a school temporarily turned clinic. What a life, what joy, to be able to see it! Though the pics were/are amateur, they still show the great beauty that is Ethiopia. Captivating! These pictures were made available to our donors and they appreciated the report of where their money had reached, where their support had found a resting place, where they too, could go and extend a helping hand from an open heart.
